New Member Of The North West BT Unions Health & Safety Co-ord Announced
Following the retirement of John Southwell on his leaving BT, there is now a new member taking over from him this month.
Jason Webb, USR and a colleague of John has been appointed by the CWU's Lancs and Cumbria Branch to replace him. Here he speaks of his background and experience as a USR:
"I spent 12 years serving in the British Army with the Royal Signals, which gave me a solid foundation in discipline, teamwork, and problem-solving. After leaving the Army, I joined BT, starting out on a poling gang before moving into a Service Delivery role as a Customer Service Engineer.
Over time, I developed a real interest in health and safety, which led me to become a Union Safety Representative (USR). I’m now the Health and Safety Coordinator for the Lancashire and Cumbria branch, where I focus on promoting safer ways of working and continue to build my knowledge through ongoing learning and development.
Outside of work, I’m a keen motorcyclist and a founder member of a large club on the Fylde Coast. Through the club, we support local charities and regularly raise funds for Brian House Children’s Hospice, which is something I’m especially proud to be part of."
